What it bonds
Where the manufacturer names a material, we quote them. Where we have assessed it ourselves, we say so and grade it lower. The two are never merged.
| Material | Basis | Manufacturer wording |
|---|---|---|
| Brick | Listed by the manufacturer A |
“porous surfaces (concrete, brick, etc.)”
Primer needed |
| Concrete | Listed by the manufacturer A |
“The recommended bonded width between membranes and porous surfaces (concrete, brick, etc.) is minimum 100 mm.”
Primer needed |
| EPDM | Listed by the manufacturer A | “ME220 EPDM membranes” |
| Aluminium | Implied by the manufacturer B | “CT113 is compatible with surfaces such as wood, metal, masonry and other building materials.” |
| Plywood | Implied by the manufacturer B | “CT113 is compatible with surfaces such as wood, metal, masonry and other building materials.” |
| EPS (polystyrene foam) | Excluded by the manufacturer B | “The adhesive is not suitable for direct application onto polystyrene, PVC, asphalt or bitumen.” |
| Polystyrene | Excluded by the manufacturer A | “The adhesive is not suitable for direct application onto polystyrene, PVC, asphalt or bitumen.” |
| PVC | Excluded by the manufacturer A | “The adhesive is not suitable for direct application onto polystyrene, PVC, asphalt or bitumen.” |
Preparation
All surfaces must be dry, clean and sound, free from dirt, grease and other contamination. Use mechanical abrasion to clean porous surfaces if necessary. Degrease the substrate, and the membrane where necessary, with isopropanol. Porous substrates may need to be primed, applying primer by brush or roller over the whole of the final bonded area.
Limitations
Not suitable for direct application onto polystyrene, PVC, asphalt or bitumen. Solvented product.
