Soudal Soudal Cork Adhesive

Water-based dispersion paste for interior bonding of cork tiles, rolls, and sheets to porous surfaces.

This is grab adhesive, no-nails, so everything true of that chemistry applies here too.

Specification

Form
Paste
Working time
25 minutes
Full cure
12 hours
Service temperature
-20C to 80C
Water resistance
Water resistant
Application temperature range
5 °C to 30 °C C Manufacturer verified
Full cure time
12.0000 hours (Soudal state this as drying time, not separately as time to full strength) Manufacturer verified
Maximum service temperature
80.0000 C (Upper end of the stated temperature resistance range) Manufacturer verified
Minimum service temperature
-20.0000 C (Lower end of the stated temperature resistance range) Manufacturer verified
Shelf life
12.0000 months (Unopened packaging, cool dry storage between +5 °C and +25 °C) Manufacturer verified
Manufacturer substrate wording
concrete, wood, stucco, stone (All four are porous. The adhesive is a water-based dispersion and cures by physical drying, so it needs a substrate that lets moisture out) Manufacturer verified
Water resistance wording
Soudal's word is "Water resistant", listed as a product property. The datasheet makes no waterproofing or immersion claim, and separately warns "Never install on a subfloor with too high moisture content." (Properties bullet only. Not a waterproof or immersion rating) Manufacturer verified
Working time
25.0000 minutes (Stated as approximate; varies with temperature, humidity and substrate absorbency) Manufacturer verified

What it bonds

Where the manufacturer names a material, we quote them. Where we have assessed it ourselves, we say so and grade it lower. The two are never merged.

MaterialBasisManufacturer wording
Concrete Listed by the manufacturer A “concrete, wood, stucco, stone”
Cork Listed by the manufacturer A “cork based materials (tiles, rolls, sheets)”
Natural stone Listed by the manufacturer A “concrete, wood, stucco, stone”
Plywood Implied by the manufacturer B “concrete, wood, stucco, stone”
Plasterboard Our assessment: suitable with care C The manufacturer names porous surfaces and plaster, not paper-faced plasterboard; use only on a sound porous face after a coupon test.

Preparation

The surface must be rigid, clean, dry, free of dust and grease. On very absorbent surfaces the surface should be treated with a primer. Never install on a subfloor with too high moisture content.

Limitations

Interior use. Water-based dispersion, so it needs a porous or otherwise breathable substrate to dry through. Water resistant is Soudal's own wording and carries no immersion approval.
