3M 3M Adhesive Transfer Tape 9775WL+

High-tack acrylic transfer tape for fabricated foams and textured surfaces; 3M publishes EVA-foam data and an EMEA selection matrix for foam-to-steel/aluminium bonding.

This is acrylic foam tape, vhb type, so everything true of that chemistry applies here too.

What it bonds

Where the manufacturer names a material, we quote them. Where we have assessed it ourselves, we say so and grade it lower. The two are never merged.

MaterialBasisManufacturer wording
Aluminium Listed by the manufacturer A “EMEA selector lists 9775WL for a thick bond from “Foam, textiles” to “Steel, aluminium, glass, ceramics”.”
EVA foam Listed by the manufacturer A ““EVA” in the 9775WL foam tear comparison” Abrade first
Polyurethane foam Listed by the manufacturer A ““PU Ester” and “PU Ether” in the 9775WL foam tear comparison”
Stainless steel Listed by the manufacturer A “180° peel table: “Substrate Stainless Steel””

Preparation

Surfaces must be stable, clean and dry. Use the cleaner and any adhesion promoter specified for the actual metal finish and foam; validate low-energy or plasticised foam grades.

Limitations

This is a transfer tape, not a gap-filling foam-core tape. Published foam and metal results are not a direct test of every exact pair in this pack.

Safety

Follow converter and manufacturer handling guidance; cutting and roll-down equipment may introduce mechanical hazards.
